Welcome back lovely people!
So I had today off work and it gave me time to think. In between cleaning the house from top to bottom... And I realised that I need to make some changes in my life before I turn 26 in April. Sure, sure it's a while away, but as I am an avid practitioner of procrastination I figured I'd get started now.
First and foremost, I want to quell a nasty habit I have acquired. Won't be easy, but must be done.
Secondly, well... Actually, to be honest, since I'm a procrastinator I got distracted and that's all I came up with... :-P
So onto other topics lol...
I was reading stuff.co.nz again today (daily ritual), and discovered this article that was rather disturbing.
It involves a rural Manawatu primary school and dead possums.
Apparently the kids are being encouraged to partake in dead possum throwing contests. I KID YOU NOT! These kids are actually taking dead possums by the tail and competing to see how far they can throw them! Is it just me, or is this behaviour really disgusting? And yes, I do hear the cries of "But they're just possums! The scourge of our native bush!" Blah blah blah. But that aside, it still was once a living creature.
Shouldn't we show a little respect for the dead? And how about not teaching these impressionable young minds that throwing dead animals is okay? If they think this is acceptable what will they be throwing next? The pet cat when he kicks the bucket? Or how about the dog? Because we all know that one kid is going to take it too far eventually.
It disgusts me that this is happening. These adults are meant to be teaching them decent things. Not the right way to lob an animal.
I could rant and rave about this for ages because animal cruelty really pisses the hell out of me. But I'll spare you the tirade and let you form your own opinions on the matter.
So disgust aside, I had a rather interesting day.
A random lady from the water testing place (can't remember what it's called) popped over to take a sample of the water at our house. I thought this was a bit random, so me being the nosey person that I am, proceeded to question her on it. I found out that they go around every six days testing random residents tap water to make sure it's up to scratch! That's pretty awesome they've got people out doing that regularly. I was very impressed with the council on that one. Everyone else probably already knew that, but I didn't! :-P
Just like everyone else knew that wines are given the names they have (eg, Merlot) because that's the type of grape that's used to make it... But that's another anecdote altogether.
Seems like America (certain parts) is being overrun with bed bugs! They won't be sleeping well I imagine...
I remember when I was a kid my parents would say "Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite!" but I didn't think they were serious! Turns out it's a real issue. Bloody hell, I'm glad we don't have that problem here.
Imagine that? Waking up during the night and hordes of bed bugs are carrying you away! Well, that's not actually going to happen, but it was the first image that popped into my head of bed bugs :-P like ants, carrying their food back to the ant hill. Nom nom nom...
I'll leave it there for tonight I think,
Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite! ;-P
